[ she says cheerfully, in this weird creepy room full of pods. it's all pretty ominous, but she seems mostly put-together as she greets him. ]

What brings you by [ whatever the fuck this is ] this mysterious room?

[ he glances at the pods. ]

Do you think this is mostly just to mess with us, or...?

[ she narrows her eyes at the wall. ]

Perhaps. Do you see yourself in those pods?

I do.

... I'm guessing that you can as well?

Yes, and I can't make out any of the other bodies.

It could be something built solely to unnerve us, but I wonder if it isn't part of something larger.

It probably wouldn't hurt to ask, but given how little they want to give us any useful info...

[ he would not be surprised if they get no explanation. ]

I get the sense that the avatars are either withholding information, or do not know much themselves.

I agree. But I think seeing how they deal with that can tell us some things, like at least basic personality types.

[ basic because they can still be hiding even that, but.

how someone reacts to being asked something can be telling. ]

Indeed. Have you gotten to know any of them? I've had cursory conversations, but I imagine it'd be beneficial to at least be friendly with them, for our own sake.

No. I've spoken to a few. A lot of them seem to want nothing to do with us.

Yes, it does seem to be that way. [ though takeru seems the... irascible type. maybe they just don't like him in particular. ] I've found Wrath and Sloth to be personable, but I don't doubt they're temperamental as well.

We'll see. We've only just met them, and they're all clearly doing backflips in order to not reveal too many things to us.

We probably won't get a clearer picture of what they're like for a while.

[chevaleros]

In the meantime, I can't say I trust them overmuch.

[ it'll take time to discern their motives. ]

What do you make of this room?

Even if it's just an illusion to creepy us out... the question is, why?

[ he looks at the one that contains his lookalike. ]

[ she draws her eyes away from the pods, unsettling as they are, to examine all the unfamiliar machinery instead. ]

I doubt we're here just to have our wishes granted. Even if this isn't an illusion—if these bodies serve some kind of purpose—there's no reason to let us view them like this.

[ besides to frighten them. ]

I plan to 'indulge' as necessary, but I'm wary of some larger scheme in the works.

Mm. It's rare that we would be given such a prize for nothing in return, right? We just need to figure out what the catch is.

[ they still don't know why the focus is on indulging. it's weird... but there has to ba reason for it. ]

Yes. There has to be a catch.

[ does there? she's just not really the type of person to believe this can be so easy.

Wouldn't it be nice to throw oneself into indulgences without worrying about such things? [ what an easy life that'd be. ]

Things usually aren't that simple.

I guess we might have to do actual work, too.
